The Toyota Sequoia has always been a full-size, three-row SUV based on the Tundra pickup truck. And that doesn't change for the 2023 model year. What does change is its interior and exterior look, its features, and its powertrain.
The Sequoia's large and spacious interior continues in this updated model. With a third row of seats as standard equipment, eight-passenger seating capacity is standard. But that number can be reduced to seven if drivers opt for the second-row captain's chairs.
And with numerous trims, the interior can feature either cloth or leather seats. Other amenities like heated and cooled second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium audio system are also available.
Unlike other Toyota models, the Sequoia will only come with one powertrain. This powertrain utilizes a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 engine and an electric motor to produce 437 horsepower and 583 pounds of torque.
And while rear-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission are standard, four-wheel drive will be optional on most versions. This makes the Sequoia capable of commanding any road or trail.
Along with a complete redesign, the Sequoia also offers a modern, luxurious experience. The newest trim, the Capstone, features authentic open-pore wood trims and sound-reducing front glass that contribute to its experience. While other trims offer updated features like a 14-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, smartphone mirroring, and more.
