Every 4Runner is powered by a 270-hp 4.0-liter V-6 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. As for its fuel economy, the EPA estimates that the 4Runner gets about 16 mpg city and 19 mpg highway.
Offered in every 4Runner model is an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The interface includes a set of physical buttons and a rotary volume and tuning knobs. The system comes standard with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a SiriusXM trial subscription, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. Additionally, Bentonville and Springdale, AR shoppers can find a built-in navigation system and a 15-speaker audio system as available upgrades.
The interior of the 4Runner is designed to be more practical than flashy or upscale. Though its design aside, the cabin is quite spacious. It can comfortably fit five passengers, though with the optional third row attached, the seating is increased to seven.
Along with a generous cabin space, there's a flexible cargo area and several large, deep cubbies in the front row. This makes the 4Runner a versatile hauler. In two-row models, though, an optional pull-out cargo deck makes loading and unloading items easier. It can also double as a tailgate for seating.When the second row is folded flat, the cargo does lose a bit of height. But it's still capable of carrying about 14 carry-ons behind the second row.

Every 4Runner model comes with a host of standard driver-assistance technology, including automatic high-beam headlamps, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
