The Toyota Tacoma is a midsize truck that for years has been offering drivers a comfortable and capable driving experience. And for the 2023 model year, this rugged pickup is getting some nice new additions worth mentioning. So, let’s take a look at what this new model offers.

What’s New For 2023?

For the 2023 model year, Toyota adds two new appearance packages to the Tacoma’s SR5 trim. The SX package will come with either an Access Cab or Double Cab. And offer black fenders, black wheels, and additional black badging. The other appearance package is the Chrome package. The Chrome package has a five-foot bed, 18-inch polished wheels, chrome door handles, and chrome exhaust tips.

Outside of the new appearance packages, not much has changed for the new Tacoma. So, drivers will still find the same two powertrains from last year’s model. The base powertrain is still a 2.7-liter 159 horsepower four-cylinder engine producing 180-pounds of torque. And the other is an optional 3.5-liter 278-hp V-6 engine capable of producing 265 pounds of torque.

Utilizing these two engines, the Tacoma can tow up to 6800 pounds. And at its max, this model can haul 1685-pound on two-wheel-drive models with the four-cylinder engine.

Safety & Technology

Whether on the road or the trail, you want the Tacoma to keep you safe and entertained. Luckily with its abundance of features, it does just that. Inside the cabin, drivers can find a sliding rear window, a six-speaker audio system, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. And you’ll be kept safe with tech like forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
