Performance

Powering the Grand Highlander are three engine options. A turbocharged 265-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder with front- or all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission is the base model. While the other two engines are hybrids. One setup uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors to produce 243 horsepower. And the other is a Hybrid Max powertrain. This model uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter and an electric motor to produce 362 horsepower.

This model’s gas milage has no official EPA rating. Though Toyota has said, the 2.5-liter hybrid will be the most fuel-efficient with a combined 34-mpg.


Technology

Drivers and passengers will enjoy the tech each of its three trims offers. A 12.3-inch touchscreen, a seven-inch digital display gauge, and a wireless smartphone charging pad are standard on every model. While higher trims will receive an all-digital 12.3-inch gauge display.


Safety Features

As you cruise around town or down the highway, the Grand Highlander will help keep you safe. Toyota’s new TSS 3.0 system will equip every model with plenty of advanced driver-aids. Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control and a road-sign recognition system. Other safety features include automatic high-beam headlamps, a blind-spot monitor, and automated emergency braking.
